Our Story
Early Foundations
HCPL traces its roots back to the early 1980s, when it began as two specialized entities—Hydrogeosurvey for groundwater exploration and Geosurvey for mineral investigations. These pioneering initiatives quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and excellence across India.
Formation of HCPL
In 1988, the two organizations merged to form Hydro-Geosurvey Consultants Private Limited (HCPL), combining their strengths in both groundwater and mineral domains. This strategic consolidation empowered us to address increasingly complex environmental and geological challenges with comprehensive solutions.
Expansion and Growth
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, HCPL experienced significant growth. Our services expanded to include groundwater pollution assessments, wastewater recycling, artificial groundwater recharge, and land reclamation projects. Each initiative reinforced our values of sustainability, innovation, and public welfare.

Leadership with Global Expertise
At the helm of HCPL is Dr. V.B. Khilnani, our esteemed Managing Director. A distinguished expert in the field, Dr. Khilnani retired at the senior-most level from the State Ground Water Board (SGWB) after a long and impactful career. His international experience includes a 5-year posting in Tanzania and significant projects in the USA, making him a globally recognized figure in groundwater management.
Dr. Khilnani has also provided expert consultation for numerous multinational corporations (MNCs) across India. Under his visionary leadership, HCPL continues to expand its global presence, driving innovation and precision in every project we undertake.
